The Geelong branding agency here for Geelong.

Where it all began

D&Co Studio started out as a one-woman freelancer who built up her business to become a complete branding and design agency.

Originally called Dewey Creative, D&Co Studio was the brainchild of Kate Dewey, a Geelong native. It all started in 2010 when Kate decided that her in-house design job was stifling her creativity and she realised she had more to offer the businesses of Geelong.

“I was looking for something exciting to do, something I was truly passionate about. Growing to an agency took me by surprise,” Kate remembers.

While competitors have placed themselves in the busy Melbourne CBD, Kate wouldn’t move from Geelong. She knew there were local businesses who would benefit from expert creative talent dedicated to crafting effective brand solutions.

“I’m a very family-oriented person and I love my community. One of the attractions of staying local was being able to give back to the businesses that I know and already have relationships with,” Kate says.

“Working in beautiful Geelong, you’re supported and surrounded by like-minded people and even through COVID, there has been a network of people giving each other support. Geelong might be a city, but it has an unrivalled sense of community spirit.”

Making a name for herself in Geelong, Kate approached Pixeld Digital Marketing Agency to join forces.

“Our business values aligned,” she explains, “there is a focus on delivering high-quality work and services to clients from a team of very talented marketers, creatives and developers. Together, we form a complete branding and marketing solution for Geelong’s businesses.”

Having always set out to deliver customer-centric solutions, this new venture has only accelerated and elevated Kate’s goals.

“I want to help Geelong businesses achieve their dreams, so my focus is on how best I can help, rather than who I can help. It would be great to one day be recognised as the go-to experts for branding – not just in Geelong but across Australia.”

A loyal following

Thanks to the unending growth of social and digital media resulting in more direct interaction with customers, brands must continually seek to improve the customer experience.

“Most people want to engage with brands on their preferred platform in real-time, so they’ll go online, post a review, talk about your brand or ask for help through social media,” Kate clarifies. “It’s becoming extremely important to have a constant presence on social platforms.”

D&Co Studio works with clients to build a brand that not only resonates with the target market but one that nurtures engaging brand storytelling to build that loyal customer base with reactive followers.

“Every business wants loyal customers. A brand is essentially the sum of all of your customers’ experiences and the impression you leave at every touchpoint. With a clear brand strategy, you can make sure your output is consistent in its language and theme.” Kate explains.
“Being consistent is the most effective way to ensure your brand is successful. Consistent branding leads to stronger customer relationships and return trade.”

Bringing brands to life

Branding agencies always seem to be popping up, selling you on the pretty imagery and bold statements, but branding is not a trend. It’s something that needs to have staying power and be able to evolve with shifts in the market.

“It’s not just about having a nice looking logo. Brands are meant to stand the test of time. It’s considering what is underpinning the imagery and what is being communicated. It’s more strategic than some people think,” Kate says,

At D & Co Studio, brand strategies are developed to be flexible to enable new opportunities for engagement.  For Kate and her team, brands are enlivened and emboldened with the perfect combination of visual identity and cut-through communication.

“That’s why our motto is “Bring your Brand to Life”. We create brands that get noticed through creative thinking and strategic execution.
